Ellie Bunting's Letter

Dear BOT Members,

I am writing this letter in support of Dr. Bob Beeson who is presently on administrative leave after Dr. Walker’s recommendation for termination.

Over the past six months, we have watched as one administrator after another has either resigned or was terminated.   The strong academic leadership provided by Dr. Atkins and Dr. Beeson is now missing, and faculty are concerned about preserving the integrity of the academic unit.   Good, honest leadership is needed to help us through this difficult time.  Dr. Beeson has the support of the faculty because he is an honest and fair administrator.  We cannot continue to place unqualified people in administrative positions to merely “fill a position” until a “real” administrator can be hired.

Dr. Beeson had nothing to do with the course substitution problem.  If you have read the other letters outlining what really happened during this time, you have seen that Dr. Beeson was only doing what he was told to do by Dr. Browder.  You will also see that the charges against Dr. Beeson are at odds with what really occurred.  I suggest you take time and read the EEOC complaint that Dr. Beeson filed. This is the real reason Dr. Walker recommended his termination. It is retaliation for speaking out against the long standing discrimination that has occurred at Edison over the last 20 years.

I have been at Edison for over 30 years, and I can honestly say this is the
first time I have ever contacted a board member.  In the past,  I have always
felt this would be a waste of time. However, I am now hopeful that at least some
of the present board members are now listening and will do the right thing.

Thanks for your time.
